My mother-in-law Betty is an amazing woman. She was raised in the country before marrying my father-in-law and raising her four sons in the suburbs of a big city. She a wonderful mother, grandmother and teacher. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2011 and was about to undergo chemotherapy when I thought of making her a quilt for her hospital visits. I wanted to surprise her with a quilt, so that she can snuggle up with something that is soft and made with love.

This quilt was made with fabrics donated and collected from her friends and family. It didn't matter how big or small, the color or pattern - all fabric was used. I got fabric that represented her childhood in the country, some with pretty colors and even some scraps cut from her wedding (bridesmaids and mother-of-the-bride dresses) and honeymoon. I also included photos and quotes along with the fabric.

Thank you to everyone who has donated. She absolutely loved it and it was the talk of the hospital staff while she stayed. Betty is now cancer free and her quilt has a place of honor in her living room, free for anyone to snuggle with.
